Ideas

Now I've completed any outstanding albums and put them on Bandcamp for future release thoughts turn to what to do next. Already two ideas have unceremoniously formed in my mind.

The first idea is to do a Krautrock style album in the vein of bands like Cluster, Neu! and Harmonia. I've always loved Krautrock since I first stumbled across Cluster's second album forty odd years ago. I also liked the Motorik beat used by Neu! in their first release. Simple yet effective. I've mucked around with Krautrockish tracks before and oddly although they sound simply enough I've found them to be trickier to do than other types of music.

The second idea was to do a drone album. I've done sort-of drone albums before but they've always tended towards the dark ambient side of things with lots of things going on in the background. But I do like drone music. I like the idea of producing an album I could have on in the background whilst reading. The trick, I think, is to make it sufficiently interesting without losing the droneness of it. Again well produced drone music isn't as easy as it seems.

Anyway, a couple of ideas to fiddle around with at some future date.
